L’Aquila earthquake 2009: reconstruction between temporary and definitive

This paper describes the reconstruction intervention after the L’Aquila earthquake of April 6, 2009. Approximately 4,500 apartments were built in 8 months, all in buildings isolated by friction pendulum bearings (more than 7,000 devices were employed). The main aspects related to the logic developed to operate in such a tight time are briefly addressed, with particular reference to structural choices and response of the isolated buildings.
