No part of any New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering Inc. (NZSEE) publication may be reproduced, stored, or transmitted in any form or by any means, without the written permission of the <a class="wiki-link" href="Contact.xml"> Executive Officer</a>, except as stated below.<br />

The New Zealand <a class="url-link" href="http://www.copyright.org.nz/legislation.php"> Copyright Act</a> only permits individuals to make copies of articles without permission:<ul><li />for criticism, review and news reporting;<li />for research or private study;<li />for educational purposes; and<li />for public administration purposes.<br />

The NZSEE permits any individual to reproduce short article excerpts (&lt;100 words) for any purpose, provided the excerpt respects the moral rights of the author(s) and fully acknowledges the source. As a courtesy, consent should be obtained directly from the author(s) of the material.<br />

These exceptions do not extend to copying or reproduction for general distribution, for advertising or promotional purposes, for creating new collective works, or for resale.<br />

<a name=".h1027"></a><h2>Authors' Rights</h2>
Copyright in articles published by NZSEE remains with the author(s), with first and subsequent publication rights granted to NZSEE.<br />
<br />
Under the terms of their agreement with NZSEE, authors retain the following rights:<ol><li />To reproduce their manuscript in whole or in part in any printed volume (book or thesis) of which they are the author(s). <li />To reproduce their manuscript for the purpose of course teaching. (This extends to any academic institution that the author works at, at the time of publication.) <li />To post a copy of their submitted manuscript up to the date of acceptance, or a copy of their accepted or published manuscript on their own Web site or an institutional repository, or their funding body's designated archive, six months after electronic publication on the NZSEE Web site. At that time, authors can request a free PDF of their final published article for this purpose. Authors who archive or self-archive published articles must provide a hyperlink from the manuscript to the NZSEE Web site. <li />To reuse figures or tables created by them and contained in their manuscript in other works created by them, provided the original NZSEE publication is acknowledged using a note or citation. <br />

Authorization to reproduce items for purposes other than those stated above, may be obtained by contacting the <a class="wiki-link" href="Contact.xml"> Executive Officer</a>.<br />

The NZSEE Bulletin Editor or <a class="wiki-link" href="Contact.xml"> Executive Officer</a> requires a signed copy of the following agreement before articles can be published by the NZSEE. <br />
<br />
Please print the following Author's Agreement, fill in the details and sign it. (The text may be pasted into a document and edited if preferred.) Then either post or scan and e-mail an image of the signed copy to the <a class="wiki-link" href="Contact.xml"> Executive Officer</a>.<br />
<br />
For an article with several authors, the corresponding author signs the copyright form on behalf of all the authors.<br />

<h2 align="center">AUTHOR'S AGREEMENT</h2><br />
<br />
This Agreement, effective <sub>___________</sub>, is by and between The New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering Inc. ("The NZSEE") and <sub>_______________________________</sub> ("The Author").<br />
<br />
In consideration of the following mutual undertakings, it is agreed:<ol><li />The Author has created a work entitled ______________________________ ("The Work") and owns the copyright to The Work.<li />The Author hereby grants to The NZSEE a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, fully-paid up, royalty-free license to publish The Work in The NZSEE Bulletin, its electronic archive, its paper archive, or any collection of The NZSEE's works in any form whatsoever. The NZSEE shall have the right to include The Work as part of its collection available on interlibrary loan. <li />The Author agrees that s/he shall not publish The Work in any other Journal, whether electronic or otherwise, in the same or substantially the same form as The Work, without acknowledging and citing prior publication by The NZSEE. <li />The Author warrants that s/he has the full power and authority to enter into This Agreement and to grant the rights granted in This Agreement. <li />All the authors of The Work authorize the corresponding author to sign this agreement on their behalf. <br />
